Some Things
About Rebecca Blissett
Rebecca Blissett freaking rocks. Plain
and simple. And no, she did not write this herself. Who
would do such a thing?
I've known Rebecca Blissett for
many years now and have filtered her innate talent in
photography and the written word down to one simple noun:
angle. Blissett's angle is always unique and absorbing.
When she covered the Penticton Elvis Festival she didn't
follow around the myriad Kings of Rock and Roll like
everyone else... She followed their wives and girlfriends
around to produce a fresh look (finally) at the strange
world of Elvis impersonators.
Her creativity and originality
appears in her portraiture photography, too. When she
shoots bands, for instance, Blissett doesn't put them
up against a brick wall and have them look off into the
distance as though they're watching their muse being
carried off by a fruit bat... She finds that singular
nuance of character that defines that person or people
at that time in their musical careers.
